Peace on Earth Coffee - Provo
A downtown Provo coffee shop with a cool origin story, a cozy industrial vibe, and a great workspace.
Vibe: Cozy, rough industrial, lighting kept low — a great spot to post up and work
Peace on Earth Provo has a really cool story that makes it kind of special as a coffee shop. At least initially, they offered alcoholic drinks — the owners were able to work something out with the city, since Provo made it difficult to get a liquor license. I'm honestly not sure if they still pour alcohol today — worth checking before you go if that's what you're after — but it's a fun piece of the shop's history either way.
In spite of all that, the inside has a cozy, rough industrial vibe — they always keep the lighting a little low. It's a great workspace: lots of plugs and outlets to keep your stuff charged, and good seating for working. There aren't a ton of big tables if you're bringing a group — just a few that fit four or five — but there's one table where a fun group of older regulars hang out just about every morning, which is genuinely fun to see. Great vibe, a real variety of people — a great place to work, a great place to hang out.
They've got a variety of good drinks, with bottomless drip, which I always appreciate, and real dishware if you're getting your drink to stay — which always feels like it's cutting down on waste, something I really like.
